Our Story

Eldon Steffen started to work on a part-time basis with Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company. Later in the year, he decided he liked the work and started as a full-time agent. To serve his clients better, Eldon gradually moved into the general insurance field and eventually received his Securities License enabling him to sell Mutual funds making him a full-service agent. He worked from an office located in his home in Cissna Park, Illinois.

Eldon hired his nephew, Rod Steffen, who after graduating from the University of Illinois, had become a licensed agent with a CFP (Certified Financial Planner) designation.

Eldon sold the agency to Rod Steffen and Greg Steffen, Eldon's youngest son. Greg had just graduated from Illinois State University, where he majored in Business Finance and minored in Insurance. He had previously served in the U.S. Army including a tour of duty in Korea. The agency was renamed The Steffen Agency, Ltd.
