Compass Insurance Partners

In 1952, Eldon Steffen started working with Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company in Cissna Park, Illinois. Within his first full year, he qualified for the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) and each of the next three years to become a Life Member. Gradually, he moved into the general insurance field and received his securities license allowing him to sell mutual funds and making him a full service agent. Learn More.

Eldon's nephew, Rod Steffen, joined the agency in 1988 after graduating from the University of Illinois. He became licensed agent and Certified Financial Planner (CFP).

Six years later Eldon sold the agency to Rod and his son Greg. Greg had graduated from Illinois State University with a major in business finance and a minor in insurance. That year, the business was renamed The Steffen Agency, Ltd.

In 1995, The Steffen Agency, Ltd., relocated to 133 West Garfield Avenue in Cissna Park and has continued to grow in the East Central Illinois area.

On January 1 2010, the Steffen agency became Compass Insurance Partners.

Currently, Compass Insurance Partners has a team of more than 32 professionals in 8 communities licensed and trained to address most insurance needs. Many team members have continued their educational experience and have acquired advanced insurance credentials and several have chosen to specialize in areas of insurance for advanced insurance coverage needs.
